Rather, he stressed, “our driving force was our love for our homeland, Lebanon, and our commitment to preserving the fraternal relations that unite us with countries around the world.”

Brigadier General Karnib made the remarks yesterday during a luncheon held in his honor by Ali Mahmoud El Abdallah, Chairman of AMACO Group, in Beirut, in the presence of a distinguished gathering of diplomatic, security, economic, legal, social and media figures.

Brigadier General Moussa Karnib

Addressing the gathering, Brigadier General Karnib said: “First and foremost, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all of you, and particularly to my dear friend Mr. Ali El Abdallah, for this gracious recognition and for this meaningful gathering and blessed luncheon that has brought us together in our shared love for Lebanon, in an atmosphere filled with friendship and fraternity.

“I have spent forty years serving in the Internal Security Forces, during which I was honored to lead the Embassy Security Unit for six years. Throughout this journey, we faced extremely difficult challenges, including economic crises, the COVID-19 pandemic, and war that left widespread destruction, claimed the lives of martyrs, caused numerous injuries, and displaced many Lebanese citizens.

“Despite all these difficult circumstances, we continued to fulfill our duty to protect diplomatic missions. This work was never simply a matter of complying with the law. Our driving force was our love for our homeland, Lebanon, and our commitment to preserving the fraternal relations that connect us with countries across the world.

“I would also like to emphasize that cooperation and close coordination have always been the key to our success and to overcoming every obstacle.”

Brigadier General Karnib concluded: “Today’s recognition is not for me alone. I consider it a badge of honor worn by every officer, non-commissioned officer and member who has served in the Embassy Security Unit over the years. To all of them, I extend my deepest greetings, appreciation and respect.

“Finally, I sincerely thank you all for your gracious presence, with special and renewed thanks to my dear friend Ali El Abdallah for bringing us together in this memorable gathering.”

Ali El Abdallah

For his part, Ali El Abdallah addressed the gathering, saying: “We are gathered here today to honor an exceptional figure who embodies qualities that continually restore our hope in Lebanon’s future. While the difficult times we are going through today impose tremendous national challenges upon us, men such as Brigadier General Moussa Karnib remind us that through dedication, perseverance and faith in our country, we can overcome our challenges together.

“Brigadier General Karnib is one of those whom we are entitled to call men of challenge and adversity. Everyone who knows him understands that it is through men of this caliber that nations are built. I do not exaggerate when I say that it is rare to encounter a personality in whom so many distinguished qualities come together. Quite simply, he belongs to the national elite upon whom nations rely in times of hardship and whom they celebrate in moments of achievement and victory.”

El Abdallah added: “I have shared a longstanding friendship with Brigadier General Karnib, a friendship enriched and strengthened by the passage of time, which has revealed a rare and genuine personality. He is distinguished by composure, serenity and insight. He always weighs matters with the precision of a master jeweler; he thinks deeply, analyzes thoughtfully, engages in dialogue with grace and sophistication, and possesses a warm and noble character that commands the respect of everyone who knows him, both here in Lebanon and around the world.

“Today’s gathering is not merely an occasion to honor a man who has faithfully fulfilled his national and professional duties. Through his person, we are also honoring a distinguished career within the Internal Security Forces, and every position and responsibility through which he carried out his national duties with integrity, dedication and competence.

“When we look at Brigadier General Karnib, we see the story of a life of service in its fullest form. He devoted the prime of his youth to the security services, protecting peace and stability in our country. He is also a son of the southern town of Rashaf, which was destroyed during the Israeli occupation. In this sense, my brother, Brigadier General Karnib, has given his country the most precious things he possesses—his home and his village—standing alongside his family and fellow citizens in the South, in sacrifice for our beloved Lebanon.”

El Abdallah continued: “Your presence here today, in all its diversity and in the spirit of affection with which you have come to honor a man who truly deserves recognition, conveys one of the most important messages we can send today, both nationally and diplomatically: that men and women who embody the qualities of our dear Brigadier General are the ones capable of building nations, strengthening international relations, upholding the rule of law, and fostering cooperation and openness.

“I say this at a time when the world is living through dangerous and difficult days, witnessing the proliferation of wars and devastating economic crises. This is an opportunity to reaffirm that our strongest asset in Lebanon is unity, understanding and solidarity.

“There is no way forward in this turbulent world except by rallying around exceptional people such as Brigadier General Karnib and by strengthening the language of dialogue at the national, regional and international levels.

“Just as security and stability constitute the foundation of a nation, the economy is the lifeblood that sustains it. Overcoming the challenges we face today can only be achieved by supporting the economic and productive sectors and giving them the attention they deserve, both domestically and within the framework of our relations with the countries of the region and the wider international community.

“In this way, we can open a door of hope for future generations, enable the State and its institutions to regain their strength and vitality, and ensure that Lebanon remains steadfast in the face of the most formidable storms it has endured in its modern history.”

El Abdallah concluded his remarks by saying:

“My brother and dear friend, Brigadier General Moussa Karnib, you are at the beginning of a new chapter in your journey of service, a new stage filled with renewed energy, activity and achievement.

“On my behalf and on behalf of all your friends and those who hold you dear, I extend to you my sincere thanks and gratitude for all that you have given to our country.

“May you always remain a cherished brother and dear friend. You are an exceptional man in a nation worthy of sacrifice.”
